Founded and led by Erich Schmidt, Schmidt Auto Care brings together experienced leadership, service professionals, and technical specialists focused on clear communication and thorough vehicle care.
Erich works alongside co-owner and COO Lauralee Schmidt, General Manager Jake Conwell, Marketing & Operations Manager Savannah Garrett, Rick, Technical Lead James Bandkau, and the rest of the Schmidt Auto Care team.

Founder & CEO
U.S. Army Veteran | Former Chrysler Factory Technician
Erich founded Schmidt Auto Care in 2009 and remains the driving force behind the business. Drawing on his experience as a Chrysler factory technician and U.S. Army veteran, he built the shop around technical precision, accountability, and straightforward service. Today, he oversees overall shop quality, equipment investments, and technical standards.
Co-Owner & Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Automotive Operations Leader | Women’s Industry Advocate
As co-owner and COO, Lauralee works alongside Erich in supporting the business and its operations. Lauralee works remotely and collaborates with national women’s automotive organizations to drive higher standards of customer care, transparency, and respect in the industry.
Marketing & Operations Manager
Customer Experience & Community Outreach
Savannah focuses primarily on marketing, communications, community outreach, and related business initiatives. She supports Schmidt Auto Care’s visibility and community involvement.
LEADERSHIP & OPERATIONS PROFILES
General Manager
Jake manages daily shop workflow, service scheduling, and customer communication. As one of the primary service contacts at Schmidt Auto Care, he helps customers understand their vehicle’s service needs, recommendations, and next steps.
Technical Leadership / ASE-Certified Specialist
James leads complex diagnostic procedures on electrical systems, engine management, ADAS safety cameras, and light diesel trucks. He focuses on finding the exact root cause behind trouble codes so customers never pay for unnecessary parts.
Service Contact
Rick works directly with customers on service-related questions, appointments, and vehicle updates. Along with Jake, he is one of the primary contacts for customers having their vehicles serviced at Schmidt Auto Care.
