From Chrysler Factory Technician to Independent Springboro Shop

When Erich Schmidt founded Schmidt Auto Care in 2009, he brought a strong foundation built on two things: technical experience as a Chrysler factory technician and core values learned serving in the U.S. Army. Erich saw a glaring problem in the traditional dealership and chain-store model—pushy sales quotas, guesswork diagnostic work, and a total lack of transparency.

Erich set out to build something different right here on Hiawatha Trail. A family-owned, veteran-run shop where customers are educated rather than sold to, where diagnostic codes are properly investigated rather than guessed at, and where every vehicle is serviced with the same care as our own family’s car.

Building a More Welcoming Repair Experience

Taking your car to a repair shop shouldn’t feel intimidating or uncomfortable. Erich’s vision for Schmidt Auto Care includes more than technical work. He wanted customers to receive clear information, understand what was happening with their vehicles, and be treated with respect throughout the service process.

Co-owner and COO Lauralee Schmidt supports the business and its operations remotely, while Jake and Rick serve as the primary contacts for customers bringing vehicles in for service. Savannah Garrett focuses primarily on marketing, communications, and community outreach.

This division of responsibilities helps each member of the Schmidt Auto Care team focus on their role while giving customers clear points of contact throughout their service experience.
